Manifest Destiny

Manifest Destiny was and is the belief that the United States is destined to expand across the continent.

Some of the biggest accomplishments of manifest destiny have been: The Louisiana Purchase(1803), Texas(1845), The Oregon Territory(1846), The Mexican Cession(1848),The Gadsden Purchase(1853)

Opinions on Manifest Destiny

Everyone had and still has their own beliefs and interpretations of manifest destiny. Some people agree with it and say that we as Americans have the right to any land that we want, and others say that they do not agree with it and that everybody(including non-americans) have their owns rights to their land.

"It is America's right to stretch from sea to shining sea. Not only do we have a responsibility to our citizens to gain valuable natural resources we also have a responsibility to civilize this beautiful land."

"America has no right to take the lands west of the Louisiana Territory. Those lands are rightfully owned by Mexico and to enter into conflict with the Mexicans just to expand and take that land would violate the principles of this great nation."
