Railroad tycoons in history were also called railroad barons. They were the early pioneers of the industry overseeing construction of the Large Class l railroads throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These men are often credited with creating the backbone of our national railroad network. Tycoons were often perceived as greedy buisnessmen that didn't care about anything but money. We only covered three of the many men responsible for the railroads we know of today.
